Dolphins host v’ball camp

The Shoreline Community College volleyball team is hosting a high performance camp for players in grades 8-12 Aug. 18-22. The camp directors are Dolphin coaches Mark and Raquel West. SCC players also will be assisting in the camp, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Locals claim AAU medals

Chris Hoy, 16, of Lynnwood, won one gold medal and two silvers in karate at the AAU XXXVII Junior Olympics, held July 26-27 at Ford Field in Detroit.

Hoy placed first in the weapons portion of the competition. He won silver medals in forms and fighting.

Also bringing home medals were Katie Thompkins, 18, of Edmonds, and Tony Wilson, 18, of Lake Forest Park.

Thompkins and Wilson each won three medals – silvers in weapons and forms, and a bronze in fighting.

Also competing were Tyler Mitchell, 14, of Lynnwood, Justin Wilson, 14, of Lake Forest Park, and Brad Swint, 14 of Mount Vernon.
