TeenHope fashion gala this weekend

The Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art is sponsoring two fund raiser events this weekend for TeenHope, an emergency shelter in Shoreline that serves teens from the north King and south Snohomish county areas.

The first event is a five course dinner and vintage fashion show at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Westin Hotel in Seattle. Guests are invited to attend in black tie or formal vintage style costume and the evening will feature a vintage fashion show with adults, children and dolls.

From 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 the museum is holding “High tea with Madeleine: a Very Grown Up Affair for Big and Little People,” at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue. The tea party is for children and adults and will feature a vintage fashion show as well.

Robert Tonner, a doll designer, has designed a collectible doll called “Hope” with a beaded gown that will be on sale at both events. Tickets are still available for both events and all proceeds from the events will go toward TeenHope. For information, call 206-546-1010.

Library changes

are in the make

The King County Library System is inviting the public to a meeting to discuss possible improvements to the Shoreline and Richmond Beach library branches at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Shoreline Library, 345 NE 175th St. in Shoreline.

Community use of these libraries continues to grow and the King County Library System facility plan is recommending a number of improvements to these two local branches over the next five years. The public is invited to come to this meeting and suggest possible improvements and help prioritize improvements to these branches. You may also participate by completing an online survey at www.kcls.org.

Solid waste station meeting

King County wants to hear from residents about planned renovations to the First Northeast Solid Waste Transfer Station in Shoreline. Residents can learn about the project and comment on it at a public meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Shoreline’s Meridian Park Elementary School, 17077 Meridian Ave. N.

At the meeting, county staff will summarize comments from the first public meeting held in June and discuss how those ideas were incorporated into the plan for the renovation of the station. The public will have the chance to provide comment.
