New traffic signal at Dumas Road
A new traffic signal on Dumas Road at the Heatherwood Apartments entrance is being installed and may become operational on Dec. 2, the city of Mill Creek announced earlier this week.
The signal is being installed as part of the Heatherwood project by the developer. Installation began Nov. 14, and the road will be restriped when the weather permits.
Fire commission meeting changes
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Fire District 7 commission will meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 instead of Thursday, Nov. 27. The meeting will take place at district headquarters, 8010 180th St. SE, in Clearview.
Livestock advisors sought
The Washington State University Cooperative Extension in McCollum Park is seeking people to be livestock volunteers.
Eighty-hour winter training sessions begin in mid-January with applications due Dec. 30. Training covers all aspects of livestock raising and maintenance.

Voter turnout increases
Updated numbers from the Snohomish County elections department posted late last week increased the number of registered voters who participated in the Nov. 4 election.
Updated numbers show that 2,763 voters in the city of Mill Creek took part, for a percentage of 39.98 percent of registered voters. The city has 6,911 registered voters.
The updated figures did not significantly change the results of any local races.
Senior center Thanksgiving
The Northshore Senior Center will host a Thanksgiving dinner at 2 p.m. on the holiday, Thursday, Nov. 27.
Dinner includes turkey with dressing, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes, vegetables and dessert.
Reservations must be made by Friday, Nov. 21. The Northshore Senior Center is located at 10201 E. Riverside Drive in Bothell.

Entertainment set for tree event
The city of Mill Creek announced late last week that the entertainment for the city’s official holiday tree lighting ceremony will be the first grade classes from Penny Creek Elementary and the Jackson High School Jazz Band.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at City Hall, 15728 Mill Creek Blvd.
