Builder Spotlight

Unlike many builders who come from a business background, Sean Mason has spent most of his career with his nail bags on. If you see him on a job site, you will likely see either a hammer, broom, or shovel in his hand. His wife, Gabriele, also comes from a construction background. Her father was a builder, and she worked for 20 years at City Bank in construction lending. Sean and Gabriele were in the same kindergarten class, were high school sweethearts, and have 2 boys, Kevin who is a teenager, and Blaine who is in elementary school.

Sean was born and raised in Lake Forest Park. Gabriele was born in West Germany and her family immigrated to the area when she and her sisters were very young. Her father, Horst Jeske gave Sean his first construction job over 20 years ago, which was the beginning of Sean’s love for fine home building.

Sean’s father in law was a master brick mason and custom home builder. He did things differently than most builders in that he did much of the work himself. He and Sean would form and pour the foundations, frame the house, lay brick, install siding, install roofing, lay ceramic tile, install cabinets and trim, paint and sometimes even landscape. Because of this, Sean became proficient in most phases of home building. He also learned the importance of quality control. He learned how the quality of the work done now, affects the quality of all the work done later.

Sean worked for his father-in-law for about 10 years and then spent the next 10 years working for W.G. Clark Construction who is a large commercial contractor. He specialized in quality control, and was in charge of overseeing sub-contractors and assuring that they produced quality work. He worked on many beautiful buildings in Seattle and Bellevue, including high-end condominiums and apartments, retirement centers, hotels, and even the King County Jail. He developed a method of quality control and was asked to serve on the company’s education committee. He trained others to use his method, which proved to be effective in saving the company money and producing excellent quality buildings. Although Sean enjoyed his career in commercial construction, he always missed building homes.

Mason Homes LLC is the result of a lifelong dream of his to use all that he has learned to build smart, quality homes. The result is that the owners of his homes can be confident that they made an intelligent and excellent choice.
