Business calendar: Japanese tea ceremony with Nippon Business Institute

What: Experience traditional Japanese culture with the tea master in residence at Everett Community College. Hiroko Yamashita is a Japanese Culture and Traditional Arts Internship Program participant with the college’s Nippon Business Institute. Yamashita, from Karatsu, Japan, is a long-standing member of the Chado Urasenke Tankokai tea school.

When: 2 p.m. Oct. 14 and 3 p.m. Oct. 15; pre-registration required.

Where: Nippon Business Institute tea room, 905 Wetmore Ave., Everett.

More info: Sessions are free and open to anyone over the age of 16. Tea ceremonies take about one and half hours for small groups and about two hours for large groups. Call Kathleen Koss at 425-388-9195 or e-mail kkoss@everettcc.edu to reserve a place at either event.
