“Money Wise Women” conference — March 1

Everett Community College will hold the financial conference “Money Wise Women” from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. March 1 at EvCC’s Parks Student Union Building.

The conference is open to men and women. Registration is $35. Participants can register online at www.moneywisewomen.net, by email at mww@silverlink.net or by calling 360-308-0056. Registration includes lunch and all materials.

The keynote speakers will be Marcia Brixey, author of “Becoming a Money Wise Woman: Getting Your Financial House in Order”; Zita Gustin, managing director of Bellevue eWomenNetwork; and Michele Corey, founder of Advanced Approach.

Participants can attend three breakout sessions regarding a variety of financial issues, including retirement, mortgages, organization, debt and investing.

Everett Community College is located at 2000 Tower St. in north Everett, two blocks west of North Broadway between 10th and Tower streets.

“Turning Knowledge into Action” workshop — March 4

Tony Robbins strategist Hoan Do will present “Turning Knowledge Into Action,” a business and personal power workshop sponsored by the South Snohomish County Chamber, from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m. March 4 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, in Lynnwood.

Attendees will learn to activate the driving force that moves them to action, move through limitations toward resourcefulness, cultivate a state of mental strength to overcome barriers and inspire strong leadership, among other lessons.

Cost to attend is $35. Reservations must be made by March 3.

Northwest Hot 100 introductory workshops — March 5 and 19

The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce will hold free Northwest Hot 100 introductory workshops from 3 to 5 p.m. March 5 and 19 at the chamber office, 3815 196th St. SW, Suite 136, in Lynnwood.

The workshops will help attendees interested in rapid growth, sustainability and profitability to determine if they qualify for the Northwest Hot 100 Business Acceleration Program.

Center for Career Alternatives dinner — March 6

The Center for Career Alternatives’ 28th Anniversary Dinner, “Building a Better Community,” will be held at 5 p.m. March 6 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, 1400 Sixth Ave., in Seattle.

The gala event includes a silent and live auction, program and dinner. Each year, CCA holds an annual campaign to raise funds to support its 25 programs that provide basic education and employment-related services for low-income youth and adults in King and Snohomish counties. The gala event allows the agency to recognize its participants’ accomplishments and thank those who have contributed to its success over the past 27 years.

Cost to attend is $85.

Human services fund-raiser — March 6

A recognition ceremony and fund-raiser for the Bob Drewel Human Services Fund will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. (registration begins at 7 a.m.) March 6 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at the Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center.

The breakfast will honor several individuals who have made a significant positive impact to human services in Snohomish County. In addition, proceeds from the event will go to the Bob Drewel Human Services Fund, now in its fifth year.

Cost to attend is $25 per ticket or $250 per table.

Zonta Club of Everett meetings — March 6 and 20

The Zonta Club of Everett will hold its business meeting at 7:30 a.m. March 6 at the Everett Golf &Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, in Everett. The cost of breakfast is $13.

The organization will hold its March program meeting at noon March 20 at the Everett Golf &Club. The cost of lunch is $13.

Seminar on driving sales growth — March 11

The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce continues its Empower YOUniversity seminar series with “Driving Consistent and Predictable Sales Growth” from 7:30 to 9 a.m. March 11 at the United Way of Snohomish County office, 3120 McDougall Ave., Suite 200, in Everett.

Chris Carlson, a sales force development consultant with Anthony Cole Training Group, will discuss how to hire sales superstars, make certain current salespeople can execute go-to-market strategies, develop sales leaders and managers to coach and growth their teams, and establish accountability processes and systems that provide credible leading indicators.

Cost to attend is $15 for chamber members and $45 for nonmembers. Attendees should register by March 7.

Business tax workshop — March 11

The Washington state Department of Revenue will hold a free Business Outreach workshop from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 11 at the Everett Public Library, 2707 Hoyt Ave., in Everett.

Attendees will learn about their tax reporting responsibilities. Tax reporting classifications, deductions, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements will be discussed. Attendees also will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding taxes that apply specifically to their business.

South County Chamber mini trade show — March 12

The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce will hold its Quarterly Business after Hours and Mini Trade Show from 5 to 7 p.m. at Embassy Suites North, 20610 44th Ave. W., in Lynnwood.

The event will feature a mini trade show, local beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres.

A chamber member vendor table costs $100; a nonmember vendor table costs $200. Cost to attend is $5.

Seminar on selling to the state — March 18

The Washington state Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises will hold a free introductory seminar designed to give businesses an overview of government procurement processes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18 at Seattle Safeco Center, 306 23rd Ave. S., Suite 200, in Seattle.

Breakfast on business and technology — March 20

Cascadia Community College has begun a new program, Breakfast Series for Professionals, which includes “Technology &Your Career: Friend or Foe?” from 7 to 8:30 a.m. March 20 at the college’s North Creek Events Center in Bothell.

Attendees will discuss the issues surrounding the best and the worst that technology provides when it comes to running a business. Continental breakfast will be provided.

John Koster’s Business Roundtable — March 20

Snohomish County Councilman John Koster will hold a Business Roundtable on March 20 at the Monte Cristo Hotel, 1507 Wall St., in Everett.

Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m., and the meeting will begin at 7 a.m., concluding at 8:30 a.m. The 2008 legislative session will be the focus of the roundtable.

Workshop on small-business legal issues — March 21

The Everett Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training will hold a workshop on small-business legal issues from 8 to 10 a.m. March 21 at the Northwest Women’s Business Center office at Everett Community College’s Applied Technology Training Center, 2333 Seaway Blvd., Suite 108, in Everett. Seminar on blogging for businesses — March 21

The Shoreline Economic Development Program will present “Social Media: Blogging for the Small Business” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. March 21 at Shoreline Fire Station No. 61, 17525 Aurora Ave. N., in Shoreline.

Presenter Shari Storm will discuss the innovative social media/blogging movement, why it’s important to the small-business owner and how to use it to effectively grow a business.

Sales workshop — March 26

Seattle Score will hold a half-day workshop, “How to Sell,” from 12:30 to 4 p.m. March 26 at 2401 Fourth Ave., Suite 450, in Seattle.

Attendees will learn about the selling process, how to sell, identifying customer needs and making sales calls. Marketing 101 is a pre-requisite for this class.
