New CT fares take effect
Fares for Community Transit service changed on Oct. 1.
Bus fares increased for local and commuter service, although the senior and disabled bus fares are still the same. Fares for Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART) paratransit service and vanpools also went up.
The fare changes were made to offset higher fuel costs and lower sales tax revenues.
The following is a list of fares:
• Local bus — $1.50 for adults, $1 for children and 50 cents for seniors.
• DART paratransit — $1.50 all ages
• Commuter bus (south) — $3.50 for adults, $2.75 for children and $1.50 for seniors.
• Commuter bus (north/east) — $4.50 for adults, $3.75 for children and $1.75 for seniors.
• Vanpool fares will increase based on trip mileage and size of the vehicle.
