Mountlake Terrace has openings on its Community Policing Advisory Board, Planning Commission and Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission. Applicants need only be residents of the city and be willing to meet approximately once per month. Meet about new parks in Lynnwood

Lynnwood officials will hold a third set of meetings to discuss the planning of two new neighborhood parks.

The meeting to discuss the 33rd Place West Neighborhood Park will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Spruce Primary School Library, 17405 Spruce Way. The meeting to discuss the 60th Avenue West Neighborhood Park will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Crossroad Assembly of God Church, 18527 60th Ave. W. Lynnwood police offer academy

The Lynnwood Police Department is offering a free 16-week Citizens Academy for residents.

The course is intended to give those attending a broader understanding of police operations. Classes will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. every Thursday evening, beginning Feb. 19 and running through June 3.

Healthy Heart Day

Costco Pharmacies, in conjunction with OnSite Wellness, will provide healthy heart screenings. The screening involves a risk factor assessment, finger-stick blood test and blood pressure. Results are immediate and a pharmacist will be available for consultation. The price for the test is $15 and screenings are open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 10 at Costco, 19105 Highway 99.

Lane closures in Lynnwood

• The Snohomish County Department of Public Works is closing a single traffic lane on 35th Avenue West, between 156th Street SW and 153rd Street SW. The closure will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, Jan. 2.

• A single lane closure will occur on 164th Street SW and 13th Avenue W. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 16.

Extended lane closures

•Â Poppy Road, northeast of Winsap Road and 3rd Drive SE, will have a single lane closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Feb. 27. The purpose of the closure is for frontage improvements as stated in the approved traffic control plans.

• The Snohomish County department of Public Works advises motorists of an extended lane closure on 13th Avenue W. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through April 1.

• A lane closure will occur from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Wednesday. Jan. 14 on 164th Street SW between 14th Place West and 13th Avenue W. An existing driveway will be replaced with a sidewalk.
