Dementia expert

offers workshops

Dementia expert Teepa Snow will offer two training workshops on dementia care giving Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Martha Lake Community Center.

Organized by CareForce, each four-hour workshop cost $35 for those registering by Friday, Oct. 13, and $45 after that date. Continuing education credits are available for nursing assistants and care givers.

Representatives of the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Snohomish County Division of Aging will be available for those wishing to connect with local resources for care givers and persons with dementia.

Faith Community

throws cider fest

Faith Community Church will hold a homemade cider fest dubbed “The Big Squeeze” from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 21, on the church grounds, 10220 238th St. SW in Edmonds.

Old-fashioned, hand-operated presses will be used to turn Yakima apples into cider. Guests are asked to bring a one-gallon container in which to take home their cider. The event is free although donations and non-perishable food items for the Edmonds Food Bank are welcome.
