Dr. William Christopher settled into his new role as Cascadia president in July, and he has spent the past couple of months getting to know faculty and staff and learning the ropes at the college.
He joins Cascadia after a period as president of one of Portland Community College’s campuses. Prior to that, he spent 14 years at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, and he considers himself very familiar with the community-college system.
Christopher’s initial time at Cascadia has been positive.
“There’s a tremendous spirit for student success and the learning process, even greater than I anticipated,” Christopher said.
Since it opened in 2000, Cascadia has experienced growth, and with the University of Washington, Bothell campus continuing to grow in the coming years, Cascadia will likely benefit as well, he said.
Christopher said he and UW Bothell Interim Chancellor Steve Olswang look forward to working together.
“We both believe this is a wonderful opportunity for us to create access to higher education,” Christopher said.
