City Halloween event is Monday
The Mill Creek Parks &Recreation and Canyon Creek Church will hold its second annual Trunk or Treat event from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 in the parking lot at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St.
The event features 40 cars, supplied by Canyon Creek Church, that will open their decorated trunks filled with candy and children go “trunk or treating.” Mill Creek-area grocery stores have donated candy for the event.
Admission is free, but city recreation staff ask that participants bring a canned food donation to give to local food banks.
Book club meeting is next week
The next meeting of the Bring Your Own Book club will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Starbucks in Mill Creek Town Center, 15517 Main Street, Mill Creek.
Each person has five minutes to share a favorite book (fiction or non-fiction) and get book recommendations from other book lovers.
Garden club hosts author, columnist
Author and Seattle Post-Intelligencer gardening columnist Marianne Binetti will be the guest speaker at the next Mill Creek Garden Club meeting.
Binetti has a degree in horticulture and writes a syndicated newspaper column. She also has a radio show and appears on cable television and writes for national magazines. She has also authored eight books on gardening, including her most recent title, “The Best Garden Plants for Washington and Oregon.”
The meeting takes place at 11 a.m. Nov. 8 at the Mill Creek Country Club, 15500 Country Club Drive. Membership is open to all interested gardeners. Annual dues are $20 and meetings are held at the Mill Creek Country Club the second Tuesday of each month except in June, July and August. Luncheon costs $17 for members and $20 for non-members.

Dumas Road dedication event
The city of Mill Creek will have a dedication ceremony for the recently completed Dumas Road project.
The event takes place at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the intersection of Dumas and Park roads. Immediately following the ceremony will be a barbecue at the Mill Creek Sports Park hosted by KPG, the design engineer for the project.

Lions seeking vendors for bazaar
The Mill Creek Lions Club is seeking vendors for its second annual craft bazaar, which will take place Dec. 2-3 at the Tri-Way Grange Hall, 3509 Seattle Hill Road, Mill Creek.

Child safety seat installations
Snohomish County Fire District 7 offers child safety seat installation. Installation times are by appointment because not all fire stations have a certified child safety seat technician on every shift.
