Beautification awards announced
The Arts and Beautification Advisory Board selected the 2005 Beautification Award Winners and presented awards at the regular City Council meeting on Oct. 25. The winners were:
• Single Family Home – Carol and Larry Harn
• Condominium Entrance – Mill Run I and II
• Apartment Entrance – The Mill
• Commercial Property – Park Place Center
• Subdivision Entrance – Douglas Fir
Council canceled, next meets Nov. 15
Because of a lack of business, the city of Mill Creek canceled the Nov. 1 City Council study session.
The Council’s next study session and regular meeting will take place Tuesday, Nov. 15, a date pushed back a week because of the Nov. 8 general election.
The Nov. 15 study session begins at 6 p.m. with the regular meeting starting at 7:30 p.m.
Church hosts silent auction, sale
Light of the Cross Lutheran Church will have a rummage sale and silent auction from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the church, 2171 180th St. SE.

Radio show to address Medicare
The “Focus on Aging” radio show on Tuesday, Nov. 8 will address the basics of the new Medicare Prescription Drug program. The show airs from 4:30-5 p.m. on KSER-FM 90.7. “Focus on Aging” is hosted by the Snohomish County Council on Aging.

Garden club hosts author, columnist
Author and Seattle Post-Intelligencer gardening columnist Marianne Binetti will be the guest speaker at the next Mill Creek Garden Club meeting.
Binetti has a degree in horticulture and writes a syndicated newspaper column. She also has a radio show, and appears on cable television and writes for national magazines. She has also authored eight books on gardening, including her most recent title, “The Best Garden Plants for Washington and Oregon.”
The meeting takes place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the Mill Creek Country Club, 15500 Country Club Drive. Membership is open to all interested gardeners. Annual dues are $20 and meetings are held at the Mill Creek Country Club the second Tuesday of each month except in June, July and August. Luncheon costs $17 for members and $20 for non-members.

The Mill Creek Lions Club is seeking vendors for its second annual craft bazaar, which will take place Dec. 2-3 at the Tri-Way Grange Hall, 3509 Seattle Hill Road, Mill Creek.
