City project under and over budget
Final construction costs for the 2001 and 2002 Edmonds street overlay projects recently were tallied and approved by members of the City Council. According to a City Council agenda memo, for the 2001 project, the final total was several thousand dollars below the initial budgeted amount, coming in at $965,979.30. The 2002 project, budgeted at $983,500, was finalized at $997,322.43. Lakeside Industries was the company hired for the project.
Senior center project budget set
Members of the Edmonds City Council at their regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 21, approved a report on bids for the 2004 senior center windows improvement project. According to a City Council agenda memo, the total estimated funds required for the project is $31,315. The project was awarded to RCC.
Writing workshop coming up
The 19th annual Write on the Sound writers conference is scheduled this year to take place Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St, Edmonds. The event includes numerous seminars featuring writers of all styles from around the area. Cost: $65 for one day only, and $125 for both days. Writing-critique workshops also are scheduled for 1 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 in Snoqulamie Hall at Edmonds Community College. Calling all
musicians
The Edmonds Exchange Club is looking for accomplished musical artists who are willing to volunteer their talents for a worthy cause. The group is sponsoring a charitable concert scheduled for 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Edmonds Theater. The event will include eight to 10 acts over 90-minutes. The Exchange Club is a group of men and women who represent various segments of the community, recognize their civic responsibilities and join together voluntarily in thought and action to serve their communities. The proceeds of the projects they sponsor are used to support various local needs including The Little Red School House, Pathways for Women, Edmonds Senior Center and needs which are identified by our members, or, brought to us by the community.
