Reagan memorial today in Bothell
A public memorial service for President Ronald Reagan will take place 3 p.m. today, Friday, June 11 at Cedar Park Assembly of God Church, 16300 112th Ave. NE, Bothell.
The service falls on what President George W. Bush declared a national day of mourning for Reagan, who died Saturday, June 5. All federal offices, including the post office, will be closed today.
State offices, however, are open for business, as are Shoreline and Lake Forest Park city hall.
Volunteers needed at Shoreview Park
Volunteers are needed 9 a.m. Saturday, June 12 at Shoreview Park to help with the maintenance of native plants located in the open space on the east side of the park. A group of volunteers have been caring for this area for the past few years and need help preparing the plants for the summer heat.
Shoreline Parks will provide hand tools and refreshments for workers. Volunteers can meet in the parking lot at the park, near the tennis courts, which is located at Innis Arden Way and Ninth Avenue Northwest. For more information, call Shoreline Parks at 206-546-5041.
Corvette Show and Shine
The North City Business Association is sponsoring a Corvette Show &Shine car show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at the water district parking lot, 1519 NE 177th St. Admission to the event is a can of food for the Shoreline Food Bank. About 25 Corvettes from 1953 to 2004 will be on display, including some custom models. Those who attend will be able to look at the cars, under the hoods and talk to owners. Funding approved for trail segment
Shoreline City Council members approved $400,000 in funding for the Interurban Trail North Central Segment at the June 7 Council meeting. The funding will be used for design services with MacLeod Reckord.
The project will complete the final segment of the trail and will include pedestrian and bicycle improvements between N. 175th Street and N. 192nd Street, which travels through the city’s commercial district on Aurora Avenue.
Church choir needs summer members
St. Dunstan’s Church of the Highlands Parish seeks members for a Summer Choir this July and August for the 9:30 a.m. service. The opportunity is open to anyone—not just church members—from fifth grade through adults. Reading music is not required. Simple unison and two-part songs will be used. Attendance at all rehearsals is not expected.
Rehearsals will be scheduled for Thursday evenings. Those in grades 5 through 9 will rehearse from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Those in grade 10 through adult will rehearse from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The first rehearsal is on Thursday, July 8. The first service the Summer Choir will sing at is on July 11.
