Beginning Sept. 21, Community Transit riders will be able to catch a bus every 15 minutes out of the Lynnwood Transit Center or Everett Station for travel between Lynnwood and Smokey Point via Marysville.
Riders with the fall change to north-end Routes 200 and 202, which used to begin and end at Everett Station, will now run to the Lynnwood Transit Center. Combined with Route 201, this will provide weekday service between Lynnwood, Everett, Marysville and Smokey Point about every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The increase will add about 8,000 hours of bus service annually for Community Transit passengers. Ridership this year is up 14 percent over 2007 and the agency had its first-ever million-rider month in July.
“With the incredible surge in ridership this year, we wanted to find a way to get people to and from their destinations more conveniently,” said Community Transit CEO Joyce Eleanor. “We hope this 15-minute service will help.”
Community Transit already provides 15-minute service, on average, on the Mill Creek-to-Edmonds corridor (Routes 114, 115 and 116) that serves Alderwood, the Lynnwood Transit Center and Edmonds Ferry. Fifteen-minute service is also provided on the Highway 99 corridor between Aurora Village and South Everett (Routes 100 and 101).
Community Transit staff and superhero Oxy Gene visited Everett Station Sept. 22 to promote the 15-minute service.
When Community Transit launches the 15-minute service on Routes 200/201/202, there could be delays due to ongoing construction at 51st Avenue in Marysville. That construction is expected to be completed on Sept. 26.
Also, on Sept. 21, four southbound trips are being added to Sound Transit Route 510 (Everett to downtown Seattle) in the 6 a.m. hour and two morning trips are being added on Route 532 (Everett to Bellevue).
After originating at Everett Station, Routes 510 and 532 will serve the new South Everett Freeway Station at 112th Street. The station has 400 parking spaces.
Only Route 513 (Everett to downtown Seattle) will continue to serve the Eastmont Park &Ride. Everett Transit Route 19 will serve both Eastmont and the new 112th Street station, providing a connection between the two facilities.
In addition to these changes, most Community Transit routes can expect some minor schedule adjustments.

On Oct. 1, a fare increase will go into effect on Community Transit buses. Adult local fares will be $1.50, adult commuter fares will be $3.50 from trips to and from south Snohomish County and $4.50 for north and east Snohomish County trips. Senior/disabled fares will not see an increase. The full fare schedule is on the website and in the new Bus Plus book.
