The Metro-King County Council’s Law, Justice and Human Services Committee is recommending the County Council rename the Shoreline District Court building in honor of Shoreline District Court Judge Robert A. Wacker, who passed away April 1.

“Judge Wacker touched the lives of people both inside and outside the courthouse,” said Council member Carolyn Edmonds, the sponsor of the ordinance. “Whether talking to defendants, discussing the operation of the courts with school kids or watching a soccer game at the fields next to the courthouse, Judge Wacker was a familiar face in the community. It’s fitting that a man who gave so much to Shoreline be remembered in this way.”

Elected to the District Court in 1975, Wacker served on the district court bench for 28 years. Wacker served as the presiding judge of the County’s District Court in 1976 and 1977. Prior to election to the court, Wacker worked as a deputy prosecutor for King County.
