The Lynnwood, Edmonds and Bothell Municipal Courts have a deal for you.
Just for the month of October, many fees will be waived on past fines.
For example: If someone had a $500 fine five years ago, the fine now would be, with overdue fees, $1,200. But during the month of October, the cost for the fine would only be $575, saving $625, said Jill O’Cain, Lynnwood court administrator.
“Our goal is to give people an opportunity to pay their fine and for us to close old cases and to allow defendants to drive on the streets legally,” O’Cain said. She added, traffic fines that aren’t paid will suspend someone’s license.
The effort includes almost 100 other courts in the state. The collection agency the courts deal with are waiving late and other fees except for a fee capped at $75.
“This way it will allow the defendant to pay closer to what their original fine was,” O’Cain said.
The offer ends Oct. 31.
