Crusaders hand Archbishop Murphy first loss in two seasons

Coming back from a goal down, Shoreline Christian School handed Archbishop Thomas Murphy its first regular season boys soccer defeat in two years on Tuesday, edging the Wildcats 2-1.

The Wildcats scored first in the 32nd minute when Chris Danford converted a pass from Andy Hewitt into a left-footed goal from close range.

The Crusaders answered five minutes into the second half on a goal by Grant Brandal off a cross to the far post by Brice Smead.

The game-winning goal came in the 57th minute when Dilan Smead fed the ball to Garth Brandal, who curled a 20-yard shot into the far post.

Shoreline Christian senior goalkeeper Brant Wahlman was credited with 10 saves.
