Beginning Monday, Feb. 7, Dumas Road in Mill Creek will be closed to all traffic between North Creek Drive and the Park and Ride facility at 132nd Street SE.
This road closure will last approximately five months. Access to the Park and Ride from 132nd Street SE will not be affected by the closure, and local residents will still have access from the Bothell-Everett Highway.
During this time a contractor will widen the road, build concrete retaining walls up to 15 feet high, install a large, underground storm water detention vault, extend a sewer line and relocate the existing water line.
Because the work requires deep excavations, and because of the limited space available, the safest way to complete the work for both motorists and the contractor is to close the road to all traffic, according to a city of Mill Creek news release.
The detour route around Dumas Road is via the Bothell-Everett Highway, 16th Avenue SE and 132nd Street SE. Signs directing traffic on the detour route will be posted by the contractor. Coordination will be done with the Washington State Department of Transportation and Snohomish County to adjust the traffic signal timing in the area, if necessary, to accommodate the change in traffic flow.
The city also says there may be additional single-lane closures between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. along Dumas Road between North Creek Drive and Bothell-Everett Highway, but local and emergency access will be maintained to all residents.
