Main Street Gallery will spotlight Edmonds artist Dianne Astrof as part of the Third Thursday Art Walk in Edmonds from 5 to 8 p.m. April 15. Astrof’s exhibit will be shown through mid-May.
From her home studio in Edmonds, Astrof works from her photographs of local scenes as well as from travels with her husband, who is her “gentle critic and greatest supporter.” Color is what first attracts her to a flower, garden or landscape and acrylics are her favorite medium “because of their versatility. The paint can flow like watercolor and yet can be built up like oil to add extra dimension,” Astrof said. “I like the painterly, impressionist style and try to feel the essence of what I’m painting. I paint to tell a story and to share how I see our beautiful world. If I touch your heart with my work, then I am doubly blessed.”
Visitors are invited to come and meet the artist from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15 and enjoy light refreshments. The gallery is located in the Beeson House at 116 4th Ave. North in Edmonds, as well as a location in Chelan. Main Street Gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. For more information call 425-774-1813.
