“Celebrating 50 Years of the Arts in Edmonds: The History of the Edmonds Arts Festival, EAF Museum and EAF Foundation” is now available for purchase. This comprehensive collection of photos, memorabilia, and interviews spans the past 50 years of the Arts Festival in Edmonds. It is filled with historical highlights of how the Festival began, how it has grown and been sustained over the years (and by whom), and culminates with highlights from the 50th Edmonds Arts Festival celebration in June 2007.

“Celebrating 50 Years of the Arts in Edmonds” showcases the people who have made this Festival such an integral part of the Edmonds culture -– from the volunteers who make it happen, to the artists who exhibit and sell, to the community and city who support the event as patrons and volunteers. In the multitude of photographs you’re sure to recognize some of your friends and neighbors, and may even be surprised to see a photo of yourself!

“Often we do not have the opportunity to record or have recorded our collective history,” said Melissa Newell, Art Department Chair at Edmonds Community College. The book is author Darlene McLellan’s “love letter to the city and the people of the city of Edmonds. In particular she celebrates the people who over the 50 years of the festival have made countless contributions to this important event.”

“Celebrating 50 Years of the Arts in Edmonds” may be pre-ordered with its companion DVD by May 1 at a cost of $40 plus tax. This price is available only until May 1. Proceeds from the sale of this book/DVD package support the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation programs in scholarship, grants and public art.

“For 50 years the Edmonds Arts Festival has been an integral part of this community,” Peggy Jones, member of the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation Board, said in her introduction to the book. “Darlene has compiled this book to take us back through those years. Read and enjoy!”

Pages from the book can be previewed at the Foundation’s website at www.eaffoundation.org.
