The Edmonds Extremes, an American Senior Legion team, finished in a tie for fourth place with North Whatcom County in their respective division.
The team was composed of 17 Meadowdale High School players and one from crosstown rival Lynnwood.
Bill Hummel, who was Meadowdale’s junior varsity coach, was the head coach, Next year he will be the head varsity coach at Meadowdale.
“The high school season is real intense, but we kind of back off that, letting them have fun,” Hummel said. “The more you play the more opportunities you have to improve.
“(It’s) more laid back. Your goal in the high school season is the state championship. You’re able to work on individual skills. It (Extremes) becomes a team-building exercise so that they know each other better.”
Hummel added he and the Lynnwood coach are planning to develop another American Legion team for Lynnwood players.
