Rotary Club of Edmonds has been awarded a special plaque by Snohomish County Juvenile Court to recognize its many years of support of the Guardian Ad Litem program.

Shane Nybo, the program’s director, recently made the presentation on behalf of the Court Appointed Special Advocate and Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem programs.

A Guardian Ad Litem volunteer is a representative for a child before the court, social service agencies and community. Volunteers’ responsibilities include monitoring the child’s case to insure proper services are received, protecting the child from insensitive questioning, speaking for the child in court and reporting information to assist the court in determining the best interests of the child.
