Emerald City captures regionals

The Emerald City Football Club ‘92 defeated the Cal North Mustangs in a shootout to win the U-13 Division at the Far West Regionals June 25 in Boise, Idaho.

ECFC defeated Arizona 2-0 in overtime in the semifinals, scoring a goal in each of the overtime periods.

In the quarterfinals, ECFC edged Colorado 1-0 in another shootout. Colorado had won three shootouts in its state tournament but ECFC prevailed this time.

ECFC defeated Wyoming 10-0 in a first round game and then followed with a 4-0 win over Nevada and a 1-0 victory over Hawaii. ECFC finished the tournament 6-0 and outscored the opposition 17-0.

ECFC is composed of girls under-14 from across Washington state. Local players included Kiana Tipton and Maddy McDevitt, both of Edmonds.
