Pianist Christopher Schindler will perform works by Bach, Schubert, Liszt and Gershwin Oct. 17 as part of Haller Lake United Methodist Church’s Haller Lake Music Series.
Born in Everett, Schindler began his musical training at age nine and was a soloist in concert with the Everett Symphony when he was 13. He studied with Joyce Ways, Randolph Hokanson, Neal O’Doan, and Marlene Thal. Christopher received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Washington and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Oregon. Dr. Schindler was a professor at Marylhurst University and taught part-time at other colleges in the Portland area in addition to his private studio.
Dr. Schindler has appeared as soloist with many Northwest orchestras including the Seattle Philharmonic, Everett Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Columbia Symphony, Yaquina Chamber Orchestra and University of Oregon Symphony.
Schindler currently resides in Portland, Ore. Besides teaching and performing, he is organist-pianist at the 1st Congregational Church in Vancouver, Wash.
