The New Everett Theatre presents “Voices from the Wall,” an original script by Everett authors Arden Flom and John LaPlante, opening June 9.
Adapted from the poetic work “The Long War Dead: an Epiphany” by Bryan Alec Floyd, “Voices” offers an unusual insight into the realities of war and all that it implies, told in the voices of nurses, soldiers, brothers, sisters, and children in the war known as Vietnam.
In the lobby of the theatre there will be a display titled “Faces from the Wall” which will be part of a collection of photos and biographies of the faces of Snohomish County men killed in Vietnam. The collection of names and biographies is courtesy of Darilee Bednar who began the project in November of 2002. “It brings the reality of the Vietnam war closer to home when you know that they boys you are looking at were from Everett, Arlington, Bothell, and you see their obituaries listed in the Herald,” Bednar said.
The play is directed by Victoria Walker, artistic/managing Director of The New Everett Theatre.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturdays, June 9 through June 24, with 2 p.m. Saturday matinees from June 10 to June 24. Tickets are $9 to $16, available at the box office (open 2-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday), by phone at 425-258-6766, by email at boxoffice@everetttheatre.org or online at www.everetttheatre.org.
