Hosts needed for international students

Each year more than 300 Snohomish County families provide international students at Edmonds Community College a place to live and learn by participating in the Homestay Program.

The college needs families to house students in the Hospitality and Tourism program arriving from Japan in April for ten months. Shoreline families are also needed for students taking classes at Shoreline Community College. Throughout the year, families are needed to host students arriving for various programs of study from various countries. Most students arrive in September.

Homestay families should be within a five-minute walk to a bus stop and less than 45 minutes travel to the college, able to provide free Internet access to a student by fall of 2008 and a room with a desk, chair, bed, dresser, closet, window and door that locks.

All host families take part in a three-hour orientation. They receive a stipend to help cover the costs of hosting a student.

For an application and information, call 425-640-1080, e-mail housing@edcc.edu or go to http://housing.edcc.edu.
