A residential fire ravaged a vacant Edmonds home Nov. 1, hurting nobody, but causing more than $165,000 in damage.
The two-story home in the 9300 block of 234th Street Southwest was for sale, and so it was empty except for a pool table, which was destroyed, officials said.
The home suffered heavy fire, heat and smoke damage, said battalion chief Doug Dahl.
The fire had apparently burned for a long time before it was discovered by a neighbor, according to a press release prepared by Dahl. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had burned from the bottom floor, where it allegedly began through the floor of the second story.
The fire also had spread to the attic, officials said.
Fire crews cut two holes into the roof to release heat and gasses and to aid firefighters as they fought the fire from inside the home.
The Edmonds Fire Department was assisted by Snohomish County Fire District 1, the Lynnwood Fire Department and the Edmonds Police Department.
