The Edmonds Fire Department made 83 responses during the week of Oct. 14-20, bringing the total for the year to 3,056.

Oct. 20

• A fire response was made in the 19900 block on 89th Place W. where a small fire in beauty bark near the outside wall of a house had begun to burn the siding, exterior plywood sheeting and insulation causing smoke within the house. The home owner had extinguished the fire with a garden hose and the firefighters found no extension of the fire to the interior fumishings or wall.

• Medics responded to 13 calls which included a seizure, breathing difficulty, abdominal pain, diabetic shock, drug overdose, loss of consciousness and two falls.

Oct. 19

• Medics responded to four calls.

Oct. 18

• Medics responded to four calls, one due to a loss of consciousness and three for falls. One of the falls involved an individual falling from a second-floor balcony who recovered after receiving CPR.

Oct. 17

• Firefighters responded to a call at Top Foods, 21900 Highway 99, where a fire along the outside of the building was sending flames 30 feet high. The fire was among approximately 150 shopping carts, but the cause could

not be determined at the time. The building was evacuated and the fire quickly extinguished before it could spread to the roof or within the building.

• Medics responded to eight calls.

• An accident response was made at 900 Main St. involving two cars and a utility pole. Both drivers suffered slight injuries but refused treatment or transportation to a hospital.

Oct. 16

• Medics responded to 11 calls. Three individuals were having respiratory difficulties, two were suffering from seizures, two had back pains and one individual, who was intoxicated, had to be restrained while being transported to Northwest Hospital.

Oct. 15

• A response was made for a call by the Edmonds police to provide advice on possible drug paraphernalia inside two vehicles. The vehicles were turned over to the drug task force for further evaluation.

• Seven medical responses were made.

Oct. 14

• Medics responded to 15 calls for a variety of reasons. Three calls were for seizures, two for back pains, two for chest pains and one for breathing difficulties.
