March 16

There were 26 responses. Two calls to the Lynnwood jail for two separate females, one complaining of cold symptoms and one complaining of a headache, both were evaluated and left in the jail. Responded to 1800 block of 200th St SW for structure fire, canceled by first in unit after it was determined it was a small dryer fire.

March 17

There were 25 responses.

March 18

There were 20 responses Aid responded to standby for police activity at the Extended Stay America. They remained on-scene throughout the night.

March 19

There were 47 responses. Aid crew was relieved by new crew for standby, they were released after three hours and told they would be called back later. Haz-mat response to 208th and Larch Way for unknown white fluid in ditch. On arrival a white liquid was coming out of a drain pipe near a house. On further investigation the source was traced to a paint storage container near the house. Dispatched to 232nd and Hwy 99 for possible apartment fire. While enroute units were canceled, the fire was from a BBQ. Responded to the parking lot of a local grocery store on Hwy. 99 for the report of a garbage truck on fire. Upon arriving, discovered that it was the contents of the truck that were on fire and the driver had wisely emptied them onto the parking lot. After the fire was extinguished, a public works crew was called in to place the now soggy garbage back into the truck.

There were 21 responses.

March 21

There were 27 responses.

March 22

There were 16 responses.

March 23

There were 21 responses.

March 24

There were 30 responses.

March 25

There were 29 responses. Responded to 212 and 52 for a fire that was set at the back of the building. Bystanders doused the fire prior to fire department arrival. A flammable liquid was used to start the fire. A fire inspector from Mountlake Terrace was called in to investigate.

Responded to 168th and 49th for what the reporting party said sounded like a car wreck. Police and Fire searched the area and found nothing.

Responded to the Lynnwood jail for a male that had a large abscess erupt on his arm, he was transported to Stevens Hospital by police.

March 26

There were 29 responses.

March 27

There were 24 responses.

March 28

There were 18 responses. There were three separate motor vehicle accidents around the mall perimeter within an hour. There was heavy vehicle damage at each incident but injuries were minor. Brian Shouse, a twenty-nine year veteran worked his last day. “Good Luck in your retirement Brian.”

March 29

The busiest day of the week with 31 responses. Responded to the 3900 block of 178th St. for a motorcycle into a house. Upon arrival found a 20’s year old patient who was learning how to ride a motorcycle and had inadvertently put it into gear. Patient was not wearing a helmet due to the fact he had not anticipated actually riding the motorcycle. Patient was transported to Harborview.

The Edmonds Fire Department made 84 responses within and around Edmonds during the week of March 24-30, bringing their total number of calls for the year to 1,153.

March 30

Medics responded to six calls during the day.

March 29

Medics responded to seven calls for a variety of reasons. All patients were examined and transported to Stevens Hospital for further evaluation.

March 28

Firefighters responded to a call in the 23700 block of3 104th Avenue W. where three green recycle cans had been ignited and burned to the ground. The incident is being investigated.

Firefighters responded to a call in the QFC parking lot on 100th Avenue W. where an auto fire which was extinguished by the owner with a portable extinguisher.

Medics responded to 12 calls, four of which were for injuries due to falls.

March 27

Medics responded to 14 calls, which included a car accident in the 17300 block of 76th Avenue W. involving a speeding car going out of control and becoming wedged between a telephone pole and a brick fence. One of the three occupants, a young male, suffered head lacerations and was

transported to Stevens.

March 26

Medics responded to four calls.

March 25

Firefighters responded to a citizen’s complaint in the 8500 block of Main Street which turned out to be a resident burning yard waste. The resident was advised that the outdoor burning was illegal and he quickly extinguished the fire.

Medics responded to nine calls which included assisting a young boy who fell after colliding with another boy while playing basketball at Westgate Elementary School. The youth suffered back and neck pains and had temporary labored breathing. He was treated and transported to Stevens.

Two calls responded to by the medics involved rear-end car accidents. The first occurred in the 22100 block of Highway 99 which involved three youths. One, who complained of chest pains, was transported to Stevens for further evaluation. The second accident occurred in the 22200 block of 48th Avenue W. The driver of the rear-ended car, who suffered back pains, was backboarded and transported to Stevens.

March 24

Medics responded to nine calls during the day, including tending to a man who fell from his roof causing him to suffer back pains and head cuts. He was backboarded and transported to Harborview.

Medics also responded to a car accident in the 23600 block of Highway 99. A semi truck struck a fire hydrant breaking it off at ground level, but there was no water leakage. The Olympic Water District was notified and assumed control.
