Barbara Mercer, the Edmonds picture-framing-shop owner seriously injured when a car drove into her place of business March 16, remains in serious condition in the intensive care unit of Seattle’s Harborview Hospital as of The Enterprise deadline.

Edmonds Police Department conducted an investigation into the incident involving a 79-year-old Edmonds resident who drove her Lexus sedan through the concrete-block wall of Edmonds Frame Design and Atelier at 514 Fifth Ave. S. The driver was not injured.

Results of the investigation were not available in time for this issue of The Enterprise.

An account has been opened in Mercer’s name at The Bank of Washington to assist her and her husband, Charles, with accident-related expenses. Donations are being accepted at all of the bank’s branches.
