A homecoming by Minister Emeritus Robert Fulghum, who went on to write the mega-popular book, “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten,” will be a highlight of the 50th anniversary of Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church in Edmonds Jan.26-28.

The public is invited to attend services at 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at which Fulghum, the church’s first minister, will speak.

Dubbed “The First 50 Years,” the celebration kicks off on Friday, Jan. 26, with an evening party for church members that includes music, dancing and a multi-media look at church history and highlights. The musical line-up includes the Rev. Thomas Anastasi of Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church, a pianist and singer.Lunch and family activities such as a church-history scavenger hunt are planned for members on Sunday, Jan. 28.

EUUC took root in August of 1957 when 36 people interested in forming a local Unitarian Universalist church began meeting Sunday evenings in the library of Lynnwood Junior High School, according to church history.

Fulghum, who began as a parttime minister there, served the congregation from 1967 until his retirement in 1985.
