Group’s role is to push community vision

Pro Shoreline is a non-partisan group of concerned citizens who represent a broad spectrum of our community and are not affiliated with or beholden to anyone. Our only role is as an advocate for the overall community.

Our Mission Statement is “to assist the residents of our community to achieve and maintain their vision for the city of Shoreline.”

This vision was the result of a series of more than 300 activities held in 1996-1998 of Shoreline citizens, the Planning Commission and the City Council that refined the City Council’s Vision Statements into the Comprehensive Plan’s Framework Goals. Pro Shoreline is committed to these framework goals as stated in the Comprehensive Plan.

One of our specific goals is to insure that the city of Shoreline maintains a strong city manager form of government. We are fortunate to have excellent leadership in our city manager Mr. Olander and his outstanding staff. They need to be supported by City Council members who are qualified, non-partisan, independent and not beholden to special interests. Our council members need to understand their roles as policy makers and they need to respect and rely on the expertise of our city manager and staff.

Our organization is committed to monitoring our city’s progress in achieving the community’s vision for Shoreline and we intend to be a source of objective and factual information for our residents. We also intend to inform the citizens if, in our opinion, there is a diversion from the goals. We will alert the citizens if any policy will be detrimental and give them the heads up so that they can become more informed and involved with the process.

Our city has made great progress towards achieving the original vision of our founders and we want to see that progress continue.
