Karen Lamphere, a certified nutritionist, will teach Taming Your Sugar Beast, Greens, Glorious Greens and Cooking with Whole Grains. Chef Sureyya Gokeri, who specializes in Mediterranean cooking, will teach Arabesque Vegetarian Delights and 30 Minute Mediterranean.

Wine and chocolate weekend
Whidbey Island Winery presents “Sweet, Savory &Six Sexy Reds” 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 18-20 at the winery, 5237 Langley Road, Langley.
The event will present a new take on red wine paired with chocolate. It will offer guests the chance to step into the cellar with the winemakers and sample luscious red wines paired with chocolates.
The affinity between red wine and chocolate is taken one step further to include sampling savory chocolate flavored with salt, herbs, heat, smoke or coffee in addition to familiar sweet flavors of raspberry and port wine.
Cameo appearances will be made by George of “Chocolates by George.”
Tasting fee is $10.
Gourmet dinners on a budget
E-Mealz is a new online meal planner that has recently partnered with Whole Foods Market. The program helps shoppers create simple and flavorful dinners for less than $4 per person.
Grocery lists, menus and recipes are presented on two pages ready to print and meal plans are available for families, couples and singles.
Membership is required. Fees range from $5 per month to $7 per month.
