Gateway teacher Andrea Miles and her students collected almost 1,400 letters, cards and posters for soldiers in Kuwait. Miles’ uncle is a general in the Army with almost 2,500 troops stationed there.

Students volunteered to write and count letters as an optional project. Some wrote up to 10 letters themselves, Miles said.

A care package drive for the soldiers will be in February. The soldiers need things like gum, sunscreen, lip balm, flavored packets for water and candy that doesn’t melt, Miles said.
