Image not the problem with city

Why in the world would anyone from outside the Mountlake Terrace area have a negative perception of our fair city? I’m sure it doesn’t have anything to do with almost half of the MLT city council members having restraining orders issued against each other despite the teamwork training seminars the citizens paid for. Or the childish “hat etiquette” tirade that made its way on to the Seattle evening news broadcast. None of that could cause a negative perception.

Having the state’s third highest population density surely couldn’t tarnish our neighbors’ perception of our quiet little town. Nor the attempt by our highly prized (and now infamous) city council to plop down a generous quantity of apartments and condos in the center of the downtown area, in the name of economic growth and call it Town Center. How could this be misconstrued as a negative?

With the help of our wonderful code enforcement police we have been able to experiment with a variety of public image improvement projects alternately deciding whether gravel driveways are OK: then they are not; then they are OK if they are old enough; and so on and so on. And then the motor home parking issue, first you can, then you can’t, then you can if it’s not too long but only on the side! How can anyone see this as anything but flexible!

Mountlake Terrace doesn’t have an image problem, it has a sanity problem. Please vote in November.
