Army Pvt. Shawn H. Grossinger has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Grossinger is the son of Roy Grossinger of Lynnwood and Michelle Coblentz of Missoula, Mont.
Army Pvt. Jeremy N. Drenski has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Drenski, son of Jeff Drenski of Lynnwood and Vicki Drenski of Edmonds, is a 2005 graduate of Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood.
Army Pvt. Kevin P. Trinh has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Trinh, son of Tim Trinh of Lynnwood, is a 2006 graduate of Shorecrest High School in Shoreline.
Mill Creek/Bothell
Timothy J. Powlas was promoted to the rank of captain at a ceremony on July 10. Capt. Powlas has recently returned from his second tour of duty in Iraq and is currently stationed with the 227th Supply Company at Fort Campbell, Tenn. He is a 1998 graduate of Henry M Jackson High School and a 2003 graduate of Central Washington University. Capt. Powlas is the son of Mitch and Lori Powlas of Everett.
Army Pvt. William G. Jonsson has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky. Jonsson is the son of Eric Jonsson of Kirkland and Leslie Jonsson of Bothell. The private is a 1999 graduate of Bothell High School.
Army 2nd Lt. Kjell N. Sporseen was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for performing and accomplishing assigned duties in a commendable manner, and for demonstrating skill and initiative in devising and improving work methods and procedures. The lieutenant is a maintenance division platoon leader assigned to the 98th Maintenance Company, Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska. He is the son of Gregory and Carol Sporseen of Bothell. Sporseen is a 2001 graduate of Juanita High School in Kirkland, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2005 from Ripon College, Wis.
Edmonds
Army Reserve Sgt. James M. Musbaum is currently deployed overseas at a forward-operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Musbaum, a mechanic with six years of military service, is the son of Belinda Lapierre of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and nephew of Doug Macdonald of Edmonds. The sergeant is a 2000 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School.
