Incumbents lived up to promises

When Laura Sonomore, Michelle Robles and John Zambrano were elected, they promised that they would reduce the growth of the city’s deficit, and they have. They said that they intended to balance the budget without raising property taxes, and they did. They said that they would not raise property taxes and provide incentives and stipulation for individuals and business to renew our community’s economy, and they did. They said that they would once again work to bring respect back for the city of Mountlake Terrace throughout the county, and they did. They said that they would work to restore our downtown district and work toward building a vision of renewal by planning for the future, and they did.

Experience is the key issue for this upcoming election in November. There is a need to remember the promises and agreements that have been made orally or written throughout the past three years. If you don’t remember what they were, then contact the incumbents and ask them to send you their last platform and determine for yourself if they have kept their promises.

Remember there is always a need for a cost efficient city government during a period of challenging budgets. It is their position that we need to hold the line on unnecessary taxes and fees, grow our incoming revenue business base, enhance public safety, and make Mountlake Terrace the most livable city in south county.

All of our residents benefit from top-notch police, medic and fire protection as well as opportunities for family activities in our parks and recreation programs. To do this, we have to think outside the box and be willing to take conservative risks, open to partnerships when we can, and to share the cost of the above with business and property owners.

Our community cannot afford to lose proven legislative experience. Re-elect Sonmore, Robles and Zambrano for another term.
