Democratic State Rep. Ruth Kagi says that she will move this spring to stay within the new boundaries of the 32nd Legislative District.
The 32nd District will continue to include Woodway, south Edmonds and nearby unincorporated areas of southwest Snohomish County plus Shoreline in King County, but it now will include Lynnwood and a portion of northwest Seattle, and it will lose Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and nearby areas of King County, including Kagi’s Lake Forest Park home.
Kagi has represented the district for seven two-year terms.
Kagi said last week that she would move to the northwest Seattle part of the district.
Kagi said that she has been trying to sell her Lake Forest Park home for three years.
“It is a big place for a single woman and her dog,” she said. “It will be a big change, after living in Lake Forest Park for 42 years.”
Kagi and incumbent 32nd District Democratic Rep. Cindy Ryu both have declared their intent to seek re-election. No opponents have registered with the State Public Disclosure Commission. Democratic State Sen. Maralyn Chase is in the middle of a four-year term.
