Democratic 2nd District Congressman Rick Larsen faces five challengers in the Aug 7 primary.

The primary field includes Democrat Larsen along with three Republicans and two independents.

The top two vote-getters in the primary advance to the November general election ballot.

The district includes Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Brier, along with coastal areas of Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties from Mukilteo to Bellingham and all of Island and San Juan counties.

Larsen has a big lead in fundraising, having reported cash on hand of $776,561, compared to $2,664 for Republican Dan Mathews and none for Republicans Eli Olson or John C.W. Shoop, for independent Glen Johnson or for Mike LaPointe, who lists his party preference as “99 percent party.”
