Saturday, Dec. 19 will be the closing day for the Lynnwood Rec Center. To mark this step, a “Last Splash Party” is planned for 3:30 to 5 p.m. The pool, weight room and racquetball courts will all be open. Cake and refreshments will be served.

The new center is expected to open mid 2011.

During the closure, activities shift to the North Administration Building, south of the rec center, and to the Senior Center, 5800 198th Street SW.

Parks department preschool and art classes have already been relocated to the NAB. Fitness equipment will join these activities Jan. 4. While there will be no showers or lockers at the new location, usage fees have been reduced to $2 per visit. Other classes, including fitness related classes, have been relocated to the Senior Center.

Aquatics and racquetball activities have been cancelled until the new rec center opens.
