The Edmonds Arts Commission presents an exhibit featuring paintings by Cheri O’Brien through May 29.

O’Brien’s exhibit features paintings in oil, acrylic, and gouache on board or canvas. These narrative paintings, done with several layers of paint, depict scenes from daily life, landscapes, dogs and the circus. The colors are bold and her style is appealing and direct. O’Brien is mostly a self-taught painter and has found the work of Marc Chagall, Henri Rousseau and Gaylen Hansen inspirational.

O’Brien’s award winning work may be found in the collections of Washington State Arts Commission, Everett Cultural Commission, Yakima’s Portable Collection and others. Her work has been featured on book covers, posters, and calendars.

This exhibit in the Edmonds Public Library, located at 650 Main St., may be viewed during Library hours 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information call 425-771-0228.
