Detailed colored pencil drawings are featured in an exhibit by Bremerton artist Kay M. Dewar, presented by the Edmonds Arts Commission at the Edmonds Library through March 15.

Dewar enjoys the fulfillment that comes with committing to a surface what she visualizes and then watching it become three dimensional. She hopes those who view her artwork can share in that enthusiasm.

Dewar is a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, growing up in Edmonds and graduating from Edmonds High School. She was employed as a graphic designer with the University of Washington for over 30 years and is now retired. Her graphics are included in a number of Atmospheric Science publications and classroom textbooks and have been included in government publications on the environment. For the past several years she has been designing and administering websites for the arts and entertainment communities.

Her artwork is published in American Artist Magazine (“Drama in Black, White and French Gray”, June 2005), American Artist Drawing Magazine (Winter 2004), the Best of Colored Pencil 3 (1996), Best of Colored Pencil 4 (1998) and Best of Colored Pencil 5 (1999) Rockport Publishers.

She is a juried Member of Women Painters of Washington. Also, finding colored pencil to be a favorite medium, she has been actively involved in the Colored Pencil Society of America, earning Signature and Merit Membership and serving first as Membership Director, Corporate Image Director/Webmaster and currently as the Webmaster.
