Snohomish County Christian School’s second season of fastpitch softball should go a lot smoother than the first year.

The Lions return three starters including junior pitcher/catcher Bekka Brekkaa, junior first baseman Kathleen Bozlinski and senior second baseman Emily Ranta.

The three along with some promising newcomers are working well together, according to second-year coach Cena Miller.

“They’re meshing as a team pretty well,” she said. “I am excited about the talent and cohesiveness of the team.”

None of the Lions came in with any extensive fastpitch experience last season, though some played slowpitch. Some of the players didn’t have any softball experience.

It was Brekkaa’s first season pitching.

“She had a pretty good season,” Miller said.

With everyone having a year’s experience, Miller is excited about the 2003 season, especially in light of the players’ enthusiasm.

A pair of freshmen, one of whom is a pitcher, bring hope for the future.

“They could really add to the team in the next four years,” said Miller. “They should be really adding stability.”
