North King County Little League organizations will receive financial help as part of the 2008 King County Budget.

“Getting funding to the youth in my district was one of my priorities last year,” King County councilman Bob Ferguson said in a press release. “The goal of this funding is to ensure that more kids will have an opportunity to participate in little league programs.”

The 2008 Budget designated $5,000 for ten little league organizations serving District One youth. The recipient organizations include the Kenmore, North Bothell, North Central, North Kenmore, North King County, Northwest, Richmond, Woodinville, Woodinville West, and Northshore Little Leagues. The funds will be allocated to the organizations for discretionary use to fund education, training, equipment purchases, or tuition needs for little league participants.

“North Central Little League provides baseball and softball experiences for nearly 400 boys and girls throughout our League boundary – and it’s all run by volunteers. As such, $500 goes a long way to enhance the experience of our players,” said Chuck Ayers, president of the North Central Little League. “With the season just starting up, this funding is very timely.”

Every decision made is based on the money available, Lisa Pyper, president of the North King County Little League said in a press release.

“Raising enough money for little league is always on the minds of our Board of Directors and parents,” she said.
