LYNNWOOD — The Alderwood Water District board of commissioners recognized Dean Lotz as the 2002 District Employee of the Year.
Lotz, a water/sewer service worker, was nominated by his fellow employees based on his solid work ethic, positive attitude and his ability to work towards a consensus to resolve issues in the district. He was particularly commended for his work with management and field staff in the selection of new uniforms for water service employees.
A lifelong resident of the area, Lutz graduated from Inglemoor High School and worked for a decade for the Northshore Water District before coming to Alderwood in 1998.
His interest in water distribution and the installation and repair of the systems used in water management brought him to the district.
“Northshore had developed to a point that they were mainly a maintenance operation,” he said. “I wanted more to do with installation and repair and a larger district, like Alderwood, gives me that opportunity.”
In addition to a plaque and certificate of appreciation from the district, Lotz receives a reserved parking space for the year, an additional day of paid leave and was presented with a gift certificate good for parts and equipment related to his hobby of restoring classic cars.
