Man found dead in Lake Stickney ID’d as fugitive

A man found dead in Lake Stickney on Feb. 29 has been identified as a fugitive from the Spokane area.

A ruling on the cause and manner of Seth B. Brandley’s death is pending, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner reported March 5.

Brandley, 28, had been in a police chase Feb. 26, involving the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State patrol. He abandoned the car near the lake.

His body was found floating near a dock. Brandley had been wanted for escape from state Department of Corrections supervision. He had extensive criminal history.

Marijuana plants, explosives found

A search warrant served in the Lynnwood area March 2 turned up marijuana plants, explosives and firearms, police said.

At about 8:15 a.m., Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies searched a home in the 18200 block of Larch Way, east of Lynnwood. They found about 100 marijuana plants, sheriff’s bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said.

They also found what was believed to be “C-4” plastic explosives and firearms.

Deputies also called in a Washington State Patrol bomb squad and the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force to help process the scene.

An Edmonds man, 26, was arrested.

Man arrested after woman’s purse taken

A 22-year-old man was arrested feb. 28 after police reportedly saw him snatch a woman’s purse and run.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies were patrolling Highway 99 in the Lynnwood area around 8 p.m., bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said.

Deputies allegedly saw the man approach a 56-year-old woman in a grocery store parking lot and forcefully take her purse. The woman was not injured, Prentiss said.

Fire damages Woodway home

A fire destroyed a home in Woodway on March 5.

The fire was reported at 6:10 a.m. at a house in the 11400 block of N Dogwood Lane.

“No one was inside the house when the fire broke out. The resident was in a detached garage and went to a neighbor’s house to call 911,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

About 20 firefighters from Fire District 1 and Lynnwood responded.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

March 4: Theft. 22400 block 32nd Ave W. A man from Brier reported someone stole the motor off his boat by unbolting and cutting a cable lock.

March 4: Residential Burglary. 23400 block 34th Ave W. A Brier man reported that someone entered his shop by prying the lock mechanism. Nothing appeared to be missing.

March 2: Theft. 19600 block Alderwood Mall Parkway. Motor fuel was stolen.

Edmonds

Feb. 29: Narcotics. 21400 block 72nd Ave. W. A health care employee was found to be diverting patient narcotics for personal use.

Feb. 29: Malicious Mischief. 500 block Walnut St. A vehicle tire as slashed during the night.

Feb. 23: Dumping. 8000 block Cyrus Place. A patrol officer saw painting supplies and miscellaneous debris illegally dumped at a vacant house.

Mountlake Terrace

March 4: Theft from car. 5400 block 223rd Place W. A woman reported that someone broke out her car’s front passenger window and stole her purse.

March 4: Burglary. 5100 block 219th St. SW. A homeowner said someone cut the lock off his shed door and stole a red, 18-speed Giant Mt. bike valued at $400 and a Les Schwab RV car battery valued at $100.

March 4: Burglary. 3800 block 228th St. SW. Burglars entered a house through the garage and stole a spare house key, mail and a bottle of alcohol.
