MC Elementary family dinner and raffle set

Mill Creek Elementary PTA hosts an All Star Family Dinner &Raffle, from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 19. The baseball-themed dinner includes a hot dog (choice of regular or veggie dog), potato salad, chips, a beverage and dessert.

The cost is $5 per person or $20 per family. The PTA will also be selling raffle tickets and raffling off prizes. Raffle tickets will cost $1 each or 25 for $20.

Prizes include an iPod Nano, Mariners’ box tickets and gift certificate for dinner before the game, a one night stay at the Lodge at Suncadia and more.

Register by today, Friday, March 14.

Families also can stop by the Scholastic Bookfair before or after dinner. The Bookfair hours for the week of March 17 are: Monday, 1-4 p.m.; Tuesday 1-4 p.m.; Wednesday 1- 2:30 p.m. 5- 8 p.m. and Thursday 1-2 p.m.

Gateway sends items to U.S. soldiers

On Tuesday, March 18, Gateway Middle School students will organize and pack almost 30 boxes of items to be sent to soldiers Afghanistan.

Parents donated money to help with shipping costs. Students and staff donated about 5,000 items, including greeting cards and envelopes for various occasions, baby wipes, candy and gum, toothpaste, dental floss, toothbrushes, lotions and soap, travel sized hand sanitizer, individually wrapped handy wipes, black thick socks, undergarments, deodorant and more.

The project was organized by Gateway teacher Andrea Miles.

All-day kindergarten tuition level is set

The Everett School Board recently set tuition for all-day kindergarten for next year.

Tuition will be $2,810. That’s an increase of $130.

Schools that have all-day kindergarten and charge tuition are Cedar Wood, Forest View, Jackson, James Monroe, Mill Creek, Penny Creek, Silver Firs, Silver Lake, View Ridge, Whittier and Woodside elementaries.

Free all-day kindergarten is offered at other Everett schools, based on socioeconomic factors in the neighborhoods surrounding the schools.

Mill Creek Boy Scouts collect food

Boy Scout Troop 122 of Mill Creek will be at the Mill Creek Albertson’s, 16304 Bothell-Everett Highway, collecting food donations in connection with Mount Baker Council’s annual “Scouting for Food” drive. Scouts conduct the Scouting for Food drive annual during the early spring to replenish local food bank supplies.

All donations will support Snohomish County Volunteers of America Food Bank.

The dates and times for food collection are: 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 28; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 29; 4-6 p.m. Friday, April 4; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5.
