Mike McCloskey joined the Mill Creek Rotary Club in April of 2006. He was hired in February as Archbishop Murphy High School’s new Development Director, replacing the recently retired Rotarian Jim Britt.
McCloskey was born in Seattle and graduated from Seattle Prep in 1974 and Oregon State University in 1978. He served as Seattle Prep’s Alumni Director and Villa Academy’s Development Director over the past 20 years.
He participated in cross country and track during high school and college. He ran on the 1972 Seattle Prep state championship cross country team. McCloskey returned to Prep in 1984 to coach cross country, track and start a swim team. His teams won 12 league championships and over 25 individual state championships. Seattle Prep won the 1996 state swimming title.
McCloskey and his wife Laurie are active in St. Brendan Parish in Bothell. They have six children ages 2–14 years old. In 2003, he was recognized with the National Catholic Education Association/St. Mark School Distinguished Alumni Award.
On May 25, Mike Mietzner was inducted as a new member of the Mill Creek Rotary Club. Mietzner is a native Washingtonian, having been raised in Bothell and Edmonds.
He is a 1990 graduate of Western Washington University where he received a B.A. in finance. After graduating, Mietzner immediately started working in his father’s development and construction company in land acquisition, planning and permitting.
In 2001, he and his two siblings started their own company and they currently develop and build single-family homes, town homes and condominiums. The name of his current company is Mietzner Homes, Inc.
Mietzner recently moved to Mill Creek and has two children — Benjamin, 9 and Hannah, 8. Mietzner is involved with their sports activities and currently coaches his son’s Little League baseball team. He also enjoys golf, boating and tennis.
Over the last few years, their company has supported the Milkweed Rotary Club through attendants and donations at the annual auction.
