King County officials have scheduled three community meetings with the objective of discussing the Brightwater project, the new wastewater treatment system that will serve Snohomish and north King counties. The meetings will provide updates and gain input from community members regarding mitigation plans. The meetings are scheduled from 5:30- 9 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
• Sept. 21 – Shoreline Conference Center, 18560 First Ave. NE, Shoreline
• Sept. 22 – Northshore Senior Center, 10201 East Riverside Drive, Bothell
• Sept. 28 – Northshore Utility District, 6830 NE 185th Street, Kenmore
The meetings will focus on the Brightwater conveyance system and system-wide mitigation. The mitigation plans are posted on the Brightwater Web site, http://dnr.metrokc.gov/w td/brightwater/calendar.htm.
Officials are working to reduce or mitigate the impacts of construction and operation of the treatment plant and the portals that will give workers access to the underground tunnel work. The four portals will be staging areas for the work in Bothell, Kenmore, Shoreline and Point Wells.
